2nd post on progress - principles to live by
- Keep it simple: exercise, nutrition, sleep and meditation.
- Two simple habits: writing, journaling.
- Construct a life where your days are made up of rituals: deep work, exercise, break fast, read.
- Focus on one thing and do it obsessively at a time. [experimental]
- Be present in the moment.
- Try to improve a little bit everyday.
- all time is free time.
- environment > will
- a little bit everyday > giant one-off effort
- consistency > motivation
- but intrinsic motivation > extrinsic motivation.
- don't follow status, or CV building things. No one cares.
- you get to do a few things in life. Choose well, or at least think about it.
- focus on things that compound.
- health is the base upon which you construct your life.
- bias towards action! Produce. Iterate quickly.
- If you move fast, it's okay to make mistakes, you are iterating quickly.
- By failing quickly, you quickly get to the right place.
- Highest ROI things you can do:
- cold emailing
- intense exercise as a habit
seek rejections, see them as opportunities to grow.
test your beliefs. Map is not the territory.
don't take yourself too seriously.
outgrow your previous mode of seeing work or thinking as something externally imposed by school. Work is what you do to express your vitality. Change the word if it helps. We don't live in era of work, we live in era of ¨life projects¨, in the sense of ¨What are you currently doing with the finite amount of time you have on this Earth?¨.

- You can learn things
- You can build things
- You can develop agency
- Break big things into its component parts
- Brain is an association machine. You can reprogram it to ¨learn to like the good things¨ like exercise, discomfort, being wrong and correcting oneself, growth.
